How Estates Gazette united a hybrid team through the Enneagram
A new culture needs more than a new strategy
When Estates Gazette merged two businesses – traditional publishing and digital analytics – they found themselves with new systems, new goals… and a team that barely knew each other.
Working remotely across different disciplines, the leadership team recognised that technical alignment wasn’t enough.
They needed trust.
They needed a shared understanding.
They needed to collaborate.
They needed a way to connect, and create a new, shared culture.
Two workshops. One shared language.
We designed and delivered two full-day Enneagram workshops:
- One for the leadership team, to deepen self-awareness and strengthen their ability to lead across the 9 different styles.
- One for the broader team, to create a foundation for better collaboration, empathy, and alignment.
Through the Enneagram, people began to see not just who they were, but developed understanding, empathy and better communication with their team-members.
We explored:
- Core motivations
- Blind spots
- Communication styles
- Professional development
Together, we built a framework for honest conversations, faster collaboration, and more resilient relationships.
What changed?
By the end of the program:
- Teams could articulate what they needed, and listen with more curiosity.
- Colleagues began to reference their Enneagram styles as a shorthand for working better together.
- Misunderstandings turned into insight. Conflict into clarity.
One participant put it simply:
“I’ve worked here for years… and this is the first time I actually understand how my colleagues think.”
The Enneagram gave them more than just a model.
It gave them language, & permission to show up with more honesty, empathy, and trust.
Imagine what could shift in your team
If your culture is evolving, or your people are navigating change, you’re going through a merger, or remote work is leading to massive distance in your team, the Enneagram can unlock a whole new level of collaboration.
We’ve used it to help:
- leadership teams align
- new hires integrate
- resolve conflict
- enhance trust
- whole organisations build the kind of culture they actually want to work in.
